Full Description: Ahoy there!  Set sail and discover our maritime history. Our museum actually covers three sites in Port Macquarie. The Maritime Museum is housed in two Cottages that date back to the 1890s, and these were originally the homes of the Pilot and the Boatmen who assisted the Pilot. It is situated at the top end of William Street, opposite Town Beach, with easy parking roadside. There are ten rooms of displays depicting our maritime past from the arrival of the first convicts to Port Macquarie in 1821. From sailing ships to steamers, shipwrecks and ships in bottles, we have photographs, memorabilia, artefacts and more to see at the Pilot Cottages Museum. Admission is Adults $5, Children $2, and a Family ticket costs $12. The Museum is open seven days per week from 10 am till 4 pm. Our second site is the historic Pilot Boat Shed, situated on Clarence Street down on the riverfront at the tourist boat wharf.  Here you will see model ships, the training sail-boat "Anzac", a wall display of tools used by boat-builders and much more. The Boat Shed is open 7 days from 10 am till 2pm and admission is a gold coin donation. The Hibbard Slipway is a short drive out along Hastings River Drive. Turn right at Boundary Street, and you will see our third site adjacent to the Hibbard Ferry. This is an operational boatyard and you can see volunteers working on boats and yachts on Wednesdays and Saturdays only. Admission to the Hibbard Slipway is free. Our volunteers will welcome you to our three locations, and we do hope to see you, your family and friends, when you visit Port Macquarie. COVID-19 update - we have hand hygiene and social distancing protocol in place.  At the moment we are unable to offer guided tours, however once the restrictions are lifted they will be back! Group Tours - If your club, group, or perhaps class of school children would like to have a guided one hour tour of the Maritime Museum, please call us on 02 6583 1866 any day of the week between 10am and 4pm.  If you would like to combine your guided tour with morning or afternoon tea, we can arrange this for you also!  (TOURS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE)
